Course description

Do you want a career in the creative industries?

The Level 1 Diploma in Music, Performing and Production Arts is designed to build your performance skills, knowledge and understanding, and to provide an opportunity to explore, develop and test creativity.

The qualification structure will provide a base of skills and knowledge. It will enhance self-confidence and self-esteem, and develop your understanding of the career demands and opportunities within the creative industries to include Music, Music Technology, Performing Arts and Production Arts. You will have the opportunity to work on live project briefs and take part in a week-long work experience placement. You will also build upon your English and maths skills and take Functional Skills qualifications alongside the creative content to ensure you are ready to progress into employment or further education.

Entry requirements

You will need to have:

  • A passion for the creative arts.
  • 4 GCSEs grade E / grade 2 or above including Mathematics and English Language.
  • You will have an interview for this qualification and also take part in a workshop day in order for you to obtain a practical understanding of the qualification, and to allow us to gain knowledge of your skills so we can fully support you during your time with us.


Your work will be assessed through your successful completion of creative assignments and performances. This work is continually assessed and your last assignment, the final major project, will allow you to specialise in your favourite area in preparation for your progression.
