Further Mathematics at Kesteven Grantham's Girl School

Course description

The emphasis of the course is on using and applying Mathematics, and taking responsibility for their own learning. The AS specification has been selected to develop abilities to reason logically, and to understand the relationship between ‘real world’ problems and mathematical models.

Students will develop an awareness of the relevance of Mathematics to other fields of study, to the world of work and to society in general.

Students work towards the OCR qualification and must be studying for A level Mathematics. For an AS in Further Mathematics students must be entered for 3 modules: Further Pure and two applied modules usually Mechanics 1 and Mechancs 2.  

Entry requirements

The normal criteria for entry are: Passes at A*- C in both English and mathematics 6 A*- B grade GCSEs A grade B or above in the subjects you wish to study at Advanced level.
