Course content

GCSE Physical Education is for pupils who have a genuine interest in sport and would like to improve their level of skill and fitness.
Pupils participate in a range of practical activities with their best four areas counting towards their final assessment. In addition pupils create their own personal exercise plan to improve their level of fitness.
Pupils also learn about the reason why people participate in sport and the physiological effects of exercise. Pupils will learn about the heart, bones, muscles and respiration amongst other key topics.


Paper 1 - Written Examination - 40% - 1 hour and 30 minutes
Paper 2 - Students are quired to offer 4 performances, in practical contexts, in the role of either player or participant, official or leader. At least 2 of the 4 performances must be in the role of player/participant.
