This specification allows pupils to develop skills in functional English; to analyse and investigate language; and to experiment and use language creatively

4 controlled assessments: Spoken Language Study, Extended Reading and two Writing Assessments

A Speaking and Listening components that develops skills in presenting, discussion and role play

Assessment

The external examination and controlled assessments are available once a year with a re-sit option. Exam papers are available in both foundation and higher tiers to cater for all abilities

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in English or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to English such as a Teacher, Journalist or Editor. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
