Hairdressing-Women's - Level 3 Diploma at Chichester College

Course description

The level 3 Diploma is designed for hairdressers who would like to further develop their hairdressing skill with creativity. This is a course demanding competence in hairdressing, practical skills and theoretical knowledge.

Course content

You will cover many aspects of hairdressing, creating a variety of looks and effects, whilst understanding the importance of health and safety as well as promoting products and services to clients in the salon. You will also be required to complete relevant GCSE’s & functional skills Maths & English.

The delivery of the course will be a combination of demonstrations, practical sessions, class discussions, lecturers and work within the commercial salon. 

Entry requirements

Students will need to have completed either their City & Guilds NVQ Level 2 in hairdressing or their VRQ Level 2 in hairdressing (with merits and distinctions). A ½ day voluntary work placement in a salon will be compulsory.


Competence is assessed by practical observation. Theory will be assessed through a combination of assignments, presentations and examinations.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course, the student will be able to
progress into a commercial salon or to advanced cutting and colouring
techniques through industry fashion houses. Students are also able to
advance onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship.

Further information

Students will work in the commercial salon for at least one session a
week, working on real paying commercial clients.
Full hairdressing kit including a razor and full uniform.
