Alarm Installation NVQ Level 2. at City Training Services

Course description

Within this program you will develop your basic security installation skills, knowledge and practical experience by working with various types of security installation, hand tool and machinery. You will produce a number of practical pieces of installation work; understand installation materials and how they are used within the industry. The Learner will be taught by qualified and experienced tutors at one of our approved local Colleges who will be supportive and encourage “hands on “learning as well as classroom theory. For the duration of the apprenticeship the Learner will receive full support from one of our dedicated training co-ordinator who will maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.

Course content

NVQ Level 2, this involves 3 mandatory units and 4 optional units, the Learner will be taught by qualified and experienced tutors at one of our approved local Colleges who will be supportive and encourage “hands on “learning as well as classroom theory. For the duration of the apprenticeship the learner will receive full support from one of our dedicated training co-ordinator who will maintain regular contact and conduct a progress review every 10 weeks.

Mandatory units

*minimise and respond to health and safety risks in your workplace.

*communicate effectively in the work place.

*contribute to maintaining effective working relationships.

Optional units

*make preparations and arrangements to install security, emergency and alarm systems.

*install cabling for security emergency or alarm equipment.

*test and confirm operation of security emergency and alarm systems.

*Commission and handover security, emergency or alarm systems.

*maintain the performance of security, emergency or alarm systems.

*diagnose and rectify faults on security emergency or alarm systems.

Entry requirements

GCSE’s grade C and above in maths and English would be an advantage. If these are not achieved then a functional skills course is run alongside of the initial course, this will gain you a grade C equivalent in maths and English

Assessment

One of our qualified assessors will visit you on site every ten weeks to do a review on your progression and build up a portfolio of evidence that is to meet the course requirements.
