Food and Beverage Service - Level 2 Diploma at Vision West Nottinghamshire College

Course description

In this course you will study a range of practical and theoretical units to develop your skills and prepare you for employment in establishments which offer fine dining and complex menus. You will train alongside industry professionals and learn teamwork skills, which are essential in a busy catering environment.

Course content

You will complete practical and theoretical work related to food and beverage service.

English and maths at GCSE are essential qualifications for Further or Higher Education and employment. Students who do not hold an A*-C in these subjects will be expected to continue to study towards them as part of their course.

Entry requirements

  • GCSE maths with at least 3 points (grade D) plus GCSE English with at least 4 points (grade C) OR
  • A Level 1 hospitality and catering qualification OR
  • Relevant industry experience

You will need to attend an interview with the tutor before being accepted on to the course. You may also need to supply at least one written reference from a teacher or employer (in some cases two) and/or your current school or college report.

Mature students (those aged 21 or over) who do not have the qualifications required for entry may still be eligible, subject to an interview. Relevant experience, a strong portfolio of work and a commitment to the subject you wish to study may be acceptable for certain courses.
