A Level Access Course at Park House School
Students who narrowly fail to meet the entry requirements for their chosen Level 3 courses may choose to spend an additional year following Level 2 courses in Park House Sixth Form. This ‘bridging year’ is only suitable for those who are likely to achieve the entry requirements for Level 3 courses by the end of Year 12. Students who don’t achieve D grades in English and Mathematics GCSE at the end of Year 11 are advised to look at the wider vocational choice available at local FE colleges. The Level 2 offer will comprise of a combination of GCSE course including English and Mathematics and BTEC first certificate and diploma courses. Students who do not achieve D grades in English and Mathematics GCSEs in Year 11 are unlikely to achieve C grades in these subjects in Year 12. With very few exceptions they will need to continue their education elsewhere e.g. at FE college.
Given the changing nature of Level 2 provision post-16 we cannot commit at the time of writing to offering any of the courses listed here. However, we are committed to offering useful and interesting courses at this level and will ask applicants to consider these possibilities to help us in our planning. These are the courses we have offered in the past two years:· BTEC Sport Studies· GCSE Business Studies· GCSE Leisure & TourismLevel 2 Subsidiary CoursesThese courses must be taken with one of the main level two courses. English and Mathematics resit courses will form the most important part of any Level 2 package. The other courses here will run subject to demand and staffing.
