Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Certificate - Level 3 at London South East Colleges - Bexley (formerly Bexley College)

Course description

This course requires students to be employed or working as a volunteer with children in Key stage 1 or 2.

It is designed to prepare students to support the teacher and the delivery of curriculum within a school, as well as develop skills to help children and young people to develop self esteem, independence and skills for learning.

It seeks to further develop professional and technical skills and knowledge, and an understanding of the importance of positive relationships within a school.

Course content

Entry requirements

  • Work placement of at least 50 hours in place when the course starts.
  • Evidence of Level 2 Literacy and Level 2 Numeracy.
  • NCFE Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools would be an advantage.

 

Assessment

Students create a portfolio of evidence, take part in various activities, presentations and provide evidence of the placement.

  • Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HTLA) status,
  • Employment as a teaching assistant/support worker in a primary or secondary school.
  • Foundation Degree in Learning Support.
