Course description

Curiosity about our surroundings is an essential instinct developed from infancy. We are all born with this thirst for knowledge, to understand the world around us, to ask how and what. ‘I think physicists are the Peter Pans of the human race. They never grow up and they keep their curiosity’(Anon) If you find that the more answers you discover, the more questions you want to ask, then you are well on the way to becoming a PHYSICIST. Physics is concerned with the universal principles which underlie all natural phenomena. The aim of Physics is to understand the workings of the universe on every scale. ‘All science is either physics or stamp collecting’ (Ernest Rutherford) Edexcel Advanced level Physics offers you stimulating ideas:

  • a qualification that employers and colleges greatly respect
  • an understanding of scientific and technological concepts
  • skills that you can apply in so many areas of employment and study

Entry requirements

You need NOT study Maths at A level. However, you do need to be a confident and capable mathematician - grade B/B in Science, grade B in Maths.
