Course description

This Apprenticeship is about playing an important role within a retail jewellery business either face to face with customers or in a mix of face to face and behind the scenes support.

Course content

Walk down any high street and you’ll see Jewellery shops (larger chain stores, independent shops and galleries)… You could put yourself in a strong position for a job in any one of them with our Retail Jewellery Apprenticeship.

You could find yourself advising customers, arranging window displays or learning how to manage a shop. You could pick up experience in sales and marketing – essential stuff for any business. Or you could learn technical and business skills in a manufacturing retailer.
For shops and other businesses to function, products need to be in the right place, in the right quantities, at the right time and they need to be sold to the right person. Retail - it’s a vast industry – an Apprenticeship could get you into managing shops or stock rooms, liaising with suppliers or goldsmiths and jewellers and selling anything from a simple pair of stud earrings to a one off item worth tens of thousands of pounds. You might be handling loose gemstones and diamonds, liasiing with desingers to make sure the customers gets eacatly what they are after if they are commisioning an item of jewellery or selling something out of a window - either way this Apprentice will give you the experince and skills needed to do it sucessfully.

Good organisation is important in this sector, while your number skills will come in useful whether you’re working behind a till or doing stock inventories. In many roles you’ll be interacting with the public, so communication and people skills are important too.

One of the great things about a Retail Apprenticeship is that you can work almost anywhere. With your transferable skills and your proven track record you are also at an excellent starting point to move into management once you have more experience.
The programme is completely free of charge to study and The Academy will carefully match you to an employer as well as providing all the support that you will need. You will gain your qualification (Level 2 Retail) and real life skills whilst earning a wage.
