Enterprise & Entrepreneurship - BTEC Diploma Level 3 at Redcar & Cleveland College

Course description

The course is designed to develop skills, knowledge and understanding that can be used as a basis to set up and run your own Business or Social Enterprise. This qualification consists of eight mandatory units plus 4 optional units.

Mandatory units:

  • The Innovative Entrepreneur.
  • Business Planning & Pitching.
  • Financial Planning & Implementation.
  • Launching your Business Vision.
  • Monitoring the Performance of your Business.
  • Operating your Business.
  • Planning the Future Strategy of your Business.
  • Leadership & Teamwork.

Optional units may include topics such as:

  • Market Research & Analysis.
  • Brand Development & Promotion.
  • E-Marketing & Website Design.
  • Social Enterprise.

Students will also study functional skills in Mathematics and English. Opportunities will be given to develop personal, learning and thinking skills. Students will undertake a work placement opportunity.

The course is an applied course where students are required to start up and run a profit making, or social enterprise business

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade C or above, one of which must be English, or a Level 2 qualification with an average grade of ‘merit’ or equivalent plus English at Level 2.

An interview.

Assessment

All units are assessed through coursework.

Future opportunities

Students successfully completing the course may be able to progress to a range of Higher Education courses in Business/related subjects (eg Degree courses in Business, e-Business, Management etc). Possible progression routes within Redcar & Cleveland College include HND/C Business, AAT or students may opt to find suitable employment, or start their own business or social enterprise.
