Access to Higher Education at The Parker E-act Academy

The programme is designed to enable mature students who may have no formal qualifications, to gain entry onto Higher Education courses. People who have been out of education for some time but have gained life-experience and now want to return to study are welcomed. There are no formal entry requirements but you should have appropriate literacy and numeracy skills. The Access to HE Diploma at Daventry is a general programme which will provide entry to a number of progression routes at University including:
* Social Science.
Subjects to be studied include Biology and Psychology, History, Sociology, Study Skills, IT and English GCSE equivalence. Other subjects may be offered subject to demand. There will also be an opportunity to take GCSEs in English and Mathematics. This course is validated by the Open College Network East Midlands Region.
All students follow a core curriculum of Skills for Life, work related skills and Citizenship supported through IT. There are opportunities for Personal Development options depending on individual interests.
You will have your individual needs assessed during your initial interview. Additional support will be arranged to help you achieve your learning goals if necessary.
Students will work towards qualifications that are appropriate to their interests and abilities if appropriate.
All applicants must have:
* spent some time away from formal education
* the necessary standard of written English and Maths to be able to cope with the course
* the time and motivation to undertake a substantial amount of home study in addition to attending the classes.
This programme is recognised by all UK universities and Institutes of Higher Education as an entry qualification for degree level study
