French AS/A2 at Torpoint Community College

Course description

In French at A Level you will develop your ability to communicate with a native speaker. You will learn about some of the grammatical tools we can use to analyse in detail and you will discover and discuss aspects of French culture and society.

You will also study global issues and their impact upon the Francophone world. As part of the course you will study aspects of French cinema and/ or literature. You then have a chance to put your own creative skills into practice by writing about a French film/book you have studied in depth.

Students of French are offered the opportunity to do work experience in a French primary school whilst getting to know about the French way of living whilst staying with a French family. French works well with many combination of subjects and is accepted by all Universities. Students choose MFL for their chosen career path or for diversity. Lots of students study French alongside Art, English, History, Media and Science. It also works well with any combination of Humanities subjects.

Studying French demonstrates to potential employers and higher education that you have excellent communication skills.
