Food Technology AS & A Level at Queen Elizabeth's School

Course description

Food Technology provides an opportunity to cover a wide range of subject content and carry out work which incorporates a variety of learning methods and skills. These are transferable to other subjects and will be extremely useful for future studies, especially the research techniques used in the coursework units.

It provides a vehicle for study of a range of topics which are relevant to everybody’s lives in a way that is interesting and combines practical and theoretical knowledge.

The subject can lead to a large number of higher education courses and careers.

  • Design and Manufacture

    Internal assessment (approx. 60 hours)

Entry requirements

GCSE Grade C in Food Technology or C in any Science.

Future opportunities

Higher education: Design Technology, Home Economics, Food Science degrees.

Careers: Teaching, Trading Standards, Environmental Health, Dietician and Nutritionist.

Industry sectors: working in food media, design and production in the food industry, retailing in food companies, consumer advice agencies.
