Course description

The aim of this course is to develop your understanding of the
design process and how to produce quality products for a set
design brief.

This course is for students who:
• thinking creatively
• are able to problem solve
• enjoy designing products
• can model and test ideas
• can produce quality products

  • Health and Safety

Entry requirements

General Sixth Form.


Internally Assessed Coursework
60% of final GCSE grade

Externally Assessed
1 hour 30 minute examination
40% of final  grade

Future opportunities

The course will provide you with the opportunity to develop a range of skills.
These include communicating ideas and information, evaluating your work and
that of others, planning and working to deadlines. These skills are recognised
by employers and collages as being of importance.

Resistant Materials combines well with a range of subjects depending on
your chosen design pathway. This course could be taken along side Construction,
Art and Design and/or Textiles this combination will give you a broader portfolio.
