Health, Child Studies and Science BTEC Level 1 Diploma at Burnley College

Course description

This course is an ideal starting point for people who want to work within the Health and Social Care sector, this could be within the fields of science, adult care, child care, Special Educational Needs.

Students will learn how to support people with their communication needs and to be able to provide excellent person-centered care in a range of settings. They will begin to develop the skills and attitudes that are required to support others during their lives, with sound academic underpinning knowledge to build further studies on.

Course content

You will have a vocational work experience for one week to link theory to practice. This will be linked to the area of Health and Social care that you are interested in.

Entry requirements

A minimum of two GCSEs at grade D or above, in addition to GCSE English Language at grade D or above OR a relevant Level 1 Diploma and GCSE grade D in English Language. This course is subject to a cleared enhanced DBS check.

Assessment

Assessment is via coursework.

Future opportunities

A BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care or equivalent Level 2 qualification in a similar subject area, a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Health and Social Care or employment in areas such as Care or Support Work.
