Countryside Level 2 at Craven College

Course description

Based in the rural setting of our Auction Mart Campus you will have access to excellent facilities including animal care units, equine yards, horticulture greenhouses, pheasant shoot, ATV’s and Craven College’s fleet of tractors.

All of our tutors are experts in their fields with experience of working with the National Trust, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Skipton in Bloom, Harrogate Flower Show and with specialist land-based knowledge. With their knowledge and contacts you will be able to visit relevant exhibitions and demonstration grounds as well as gaining inspiration from guest speakers from a variety of agriculture, countryside and environmental sectors.

Visits to local farms, estates and national parks and taking part in relevant work experience will reinforce your learning.

Course content

Units may include:

  • Environmental & land-based business
  • Introduction to agriculture & conservation
  • Introduction to farm animal production
  • Introduction to land-based machinery Operations
  • Participate in providing Estate maintenance
  • Tractor driving
  • Work related experience
 

Entry requirements

  • 4 GCSEs 9-3 (A*-D) or Level 1 Diploma
  • English & Maths GCSEs 9-2 (A*- E)
