Drama at Chellaston Academy

Course description

The aims of the GCE in Drama and Theatre
Studies will encourage you to:
- develop your interest and enjoyment in
drama and theatre both as a participant
and as an informed member of an audience,
fostering an enthusiasm for and critical
appreciation of the subject
- develop understanding and appreciation of
the significance of social, cultural and
historical influences on the development of
drama and theatre
- experience a range of opportunities to
develop a variety of dramatic and theatrical
skills, enabling you to grow creatively and
imaginatively in both devised and scripted
work
- integrate theory and practice through your
understanding of critical concepts and the
discriminating use of specialist terminology

Entry requirements

AS/A2 levels (2 years)
5 or more Grades at B or above, all of which
must come from separate courses.
In line with other institutions, we also expect
higher grade passes in Maths and English, in
order to access Level 3 courses.
To take Maths AS/A2, you must have at least
an A grade in order to take up the course
In the larger, on-line prospectus there are
entry requirements for each subject. In general,

at least a B grade is required to take
a subject at AS/A2 level
