Level 2 Sport, Exercise and Health at Reds in the Community
TheLevel 2 Sport, Exercise and Health offers students an opportunity to study sport in the context of the exercise and fitness industry. It is a practical course including a variety of sport related modules, and then chance to gain additional qualifications such as literacy and numeracy as well as sports coaching. This course prepares students for employment in the sports sector or progression onto higher level courses.
The course is equivalent to 4 GCSE's A-C level.
Coaching Workshops and Practical Sport Anatomy and Physiology Nutrition and Healthy Eating Sports Coaching CV / Career Building Workshops
4 GCSE's at grade D or above, one of them being English or Maths.
Level 1 qualification e.g completion of BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure, plus an ability to operate at Level 1 in english and maths.
Assessment will occure continually throughout the programme. The type of assessments you will carry out are:
- Written reports
- Practical assessments
Students can apply for a bursary to assist with travel costs. Applications for the bursary fund are means tested.
On completion of the course, students have the opportunity to progress onto higher level qualifications, such as NVQ Level 2 Activity Leadership, BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport course or equivalent qualifications in the sport and exercise field. Or they can move straight into employment, for example as a Leisure Centre Attendant, an Assistant Fitness Instructor or an Assistant Coach.
Learners will have the opportunity to represent Reds in the Community in the AOC League or gain vital coaching work experience with the Community programmes extensive delivery of activities throughout Barnsley.
