German *FEES PAYABLE* at Akeley Wood Senior School

Course description

German is one of the major European languages and would be a bonus for anyone wishing to work in a German speaking country. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are major forces in the Business World as well as in Technical and Scientific Research.

The A Level German course covers a wide range of current topics. At AS you will learn to develop an unserstanding of spoken and written German beyond GCSEand will be able to communicate effectively in German in a variety of registers. You will develop knowledge of and critical insights into the culture, heritage and contemporary society of Germany and German-speaking countries. The main AS Topics cover aspects of daily life, leisure and entertainment, communication and media and eduction and training.

At A2 you will study aspects of the culture, heritage and contemporary sociey of Germany or a German speaking country in greater depth. You will use German to analyse, evaluate, persuade and justify in both speech and writing and transfer meaning from English to German and vice versa.

Entry requirements

You will need to have an interest in German and German speaking countries, and an aptitude for learning foreign languages. A GCSE pass at B or above is also necessary.
