Maintenance Operations Intermediate Apprenticeship at Derby College

Course description

This course meets the needs of learners who have secured an apprenticeship within the maintenance operations area of construction.

It allows them to learn, develop and practise the skills required for their employment.  It also contributes knowledge and understanding towards the related Diploma in Maintenance Operations.

Course content

Various trades within the construction industry will be explored, including brickwork, carpentry and joinery, and painting and decorating.  Your studies also feature mandatory health and safety elements.  Your literacy and numeracy skills will be assessed throughout the course.

Entry requirements

You should have gained employment as an apprentice with a construction or building company.

A GCSE grade E or above in English and Maths, a Pass or above in BTEC Level 2 Construction or equivalent qualifications are desirable, although not always required. 

A commitment to your own learning and performance in a working environment is essential.

Assessment

You will complete College-based practical and theory assessments as you work towards a Level 2 Cskills Diploma in Maintenance Operations.
You will also build an NVQ portfolio of evidence on your site-based experience.

Financial information

You will need safety boots and Personal Protective Equipment.

Future opportunities

You can advance your career in full-time employment within the construction industry and/or progress to a higher level qualification within professional construction.
