Sociology : A Level at Gateway College
Sociology is the study of human relationships and behaviour. It explains the behaviour of individuals by looking at ideas based on our membership of social groups, such as families, schools and the workplace. It is an exciting, thought-provoking subject highly relevant to contemporary life. Through doing presentations you will learn how to present ideas orally and in writing, and develop strong research and IT skills. You will also be able to apply theoretical Sociological perspectives to everyday life.
The course will be mainly classroom based but will be enhanced with trips both locally and further afield. There will be an opportunity for students to participate in trips to Europe with other Social Science students.
“Young people who have studied Sociology are in fact highly valued across a wide range of workplaces and professions today.” John Williams.
