Course description

If you enjoy the challenge of problem-solving or want to develop your mathematical skills to support other subjects, this course is ideal for you.

A qualification in Mathematics provides evidence of good problem-solving skills and the ability to analyse data. This facilitating subject is highly valued for employers and is often a requirement for Higher Education courses in Sciences and Engineering.

Course content

The Mathematics course will consist of pure maths alongside both mechanics and statistics. These will all be examined at the end of the two years but there will be many developmental assessments during the course to allow you to hone your skills.

If you prefer using and applying maths, you may be offered Core Maths which can be completed in one year.

Entry requirements

Standard ‘A’ Level entry requirements apply. For this course you will need a Grade 6 in Mathematics and a Grade 7 for Further Mathematics.


100% Exam.

Future opportunities

On successful completion, you may progress on to a Maths-related course at university in readiness for a career in Science or Engineering.

Alternatively, you will be ideally placed to pursue employment in business, insurance work and operational research/statistical work.
