Drama at Kingsley Academy

Course description

Drama is hard work but is fun. It gives you some of the finest transferable skills and also gives you a great opportunity to be creative. This year sees a residential drama trip during February. We will go to a different country for 5 days and immerse ourselves in drama workshops and cultural activities. We hope to make this an annual event. Course Details/Outline: AS * 40% written and practical exploration of 2 plays. (Similar to GCSE but more depth) * 60% practical. A performance from a published play and EITHER a monologue or duologue OR backstage skills. A2 * 40% Devising an original piece of theatre from a given stimulus. * 60% written examination based on a play you have studied and a time period in theatre history.

Entry requirements

* GCSE Drama; Grade C or above * Merit in Performing Arts * At least grade C in English if you didn't do GCSE Drama * Availability for occasional evening theatre trips * Ability to perform to your families and friends * Expectation to rehearse after school and during run-ups to performances (sometimes at weekends)

Acting, Directing, Set design, Teaching, Playwriting, Journalism, Costume Design, Theatre Makeup Artist, Theatre Management, Filmmaker, Theatre CriticTheatre Studies Degree, Performing Arts Intermediate course, Apprentice at a theatre in technical training, Stagecraft (such as lights, stage design, etc.).
