Health and Social Care Level 2 Certificate at Mediprospects

Course description

This is an entry level qualification primarily aimed at those with little or no experience of care work. The Level 2 Certificate course equips you with the knowledge required as a MINIMUM before you choose to apply for jobs within the care sector.

If you are sympathetic and caring, interested in the wellbeing of vulnerable people, good at communicating and working as part of a team, a career in health and social care will be fulfilling and satisfying. Health Care Workers work in care settings such as care homes or clinics, and can include anything from helping people get dressed to transporting them to and from a residential home.

Course content

You will cover 6 units:

  • Communication skills for working in the health sector
  • Equality and Diversity in the health sector
  • Health, Safety and Security in the health sector
  • Maintaining Quality in the health sector
  • People and Personal Development in the health sector
  • Service Improvement in the health sector

In addition, you will receive strong job search support, submission to vacancies and openings, help with your CV, training on interview skills and your own dedicated adviser who will assist you with your job search.


You will attend a minimum of six training sessions, each session relating to a unit of the course. Your work will be assessed through a series of short assignments. There will be no test or exam.

Future opportunities

Having done this course, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification, and could progress on to higher level, Diploma courses within the Health & Social Care or Childcare sector if you choose to study further.

This qualification will also enable you to apply for jobs with care homes, nursing homes, day care centres and other areas in a care setting.
