Course description

The course is an introduction to the Uniformed Public Services. It would be suitable for anyone who is thinking about a career in the Uniformed Public Services.

Course content

The course covers:

  • Searching for a job
  • Wellbeing & fitness for Public Service
  • Public Services careers
  • Improving health & fitness for entry into Uniformed Public Service
  • Practical teamwork in the Public Service. (These are subject to change).

Entry requirements

Two GCSEs at D grade or equivalent.

Assessment

Assessed by assignments & practical applications.

Financial information

Full Time Further Education courses are free for those who are under 19 on 31 August of the year they start their course.  Exam resit fees may apply if and when applicable.

Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course you could progress onto the Level 1 Diploma in Public Services or Level 2 Certificate in Public Services at Grantham College. You could also apply for an apprenticeship or direct entry into any of the armed services.

Further information

Fitness & physical activity are a large part of this course although there are no pre-requisite entry standards. You will be required to wear a uniform daily whilst at college which is self funded. Assistance can be provided with this through the bursary scheme subject to family income.
