Course description

What’s it all about?
Psychology is defined as “the scientific study of the human mind and its functions, especially those affecting behaviour”. Psychologists are interested in all aspects of humans, including the causes of stress, strategies for memory improvement and explanations of mental disorders.

What topics are covered for AS?
* Human Memory, including eye-witness testimony.
* Definitions and models of abnormality,
* Attachments in childhood
* Stress
* Social influence
* Methodology

What topics are covered for A2?
* The nature and causes of aggression
* Psychopathology (mental disorders)
* Sleep and sleep disorders
* Psychological approaches
* Paranormal Psychology
* Eating behaviour

Entry requirements

As the subject is essay based, you need GCSE English at grade C or above. A grade C or above in Maths is desirable.
