English language/literature A Level at Longfield Academy

Course description

English Literature / Language at A level combines the love of literature (prose, poetry and drama) with a practical study of non-fiction texts, spoken texts such as speeches and documentaries, and a creative writing element.

Through your studies you will develop and polish your communication and analytical skills. You will be required to demonstrate understanding and insight and to engage with a wide variety of texts on both a personal and academic level. 

Entry requirements

Overall requirement for Post 16:

5 A* - C at GCSE (English and mathematics grade 4). Max 2 BTECs at merit can count.

Subject specific requirements:

Grade 5 in English language and Grade 5 in English literature.

Assessment

Units 1, 2 and 3 are assessed by written examinations:  80%

Unit 4 is a coursework module: 20%
