English & English Literature at Wollaston School

Course content

In English lessons, students will be given guidance on their coursework; they will often be provided with essay plans or frameworks for their assignments. However, they will also be expected to work independently on their coursework, therefore the support of parents / guardians would be greatly appreciated in encouraging them to do their best. Students’ families can also help them by reading their set texts in order that they can discuss the books with them. They can further support the students by ensuring that they have copies of reference books, such as a dictionary and a thesaurus available for the youngsters to use. Coursework RequirementsEnglish Coursework 40% (Speaking and listening assessments 20%) (Written coursework 20%) Examinations – two papers 60% English Literature Coursework 30% Examination – one paper 70%
