Human Biology at Sir Isaac Newton Sixth Form Free School

Course description

Your body really is amazing. Studying A Level Human Biology allows you to explore deep questions such as “How does your body work?”, “What causes aging and death?” or “How can we irradiate disease?”. You will consider where humans came from as well as how the human organism can be supported to function effectively through considerations about diet and living environments. At AS, students explore two main areas:

• The body and its diseases

• Humans – their origins and adaptations Deeper understanding of the functioning of the human body is gained through the study of two further areas during A2:

• Bodies and cells in and out of control

• The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat

Entry requirements

Our entry requirements are in-line with other local providers. To study with us you will need to have an average of at least 6 grade Bs at GCSE, (including grade B’s in any subjects that you wish to study at A level that you have already studied at GCSE.) We are aware that there may be special circumstances that mean that you won’t achieve this level of results. We do sometimes reduce this minimum standard under such conditions - please do get in touch.
