Manufacturing and Product Design Advanced Diploma (Level 3) at Cowes Enterprise College
The Manufacturing and Product Design Diploma is a practical course designed for young people who have a broad interest and enthusiasm for the Manufacturing and Product Design industries. The Diploma is a new qualification for students aged 14 -19 that is designed to be studied alongside GCSEs and A levels. The Diploma offers the opportunity to learn in an exciting, creative and enjoyable way, combining class work with hands on experience. The Diploma at the Advanced level is the equivalent of 3.5 A levels. The Advanced Diploma course will last for 2 years. How is the Diploma put together? The Diploma is made up of different components that go together to form the whole qualification. Each Diploma contains the same components listed here: * Principal learning – This component develops the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to your chosen Diploma subject. * Generic learning – This component includes personal learning and thinking skills, an extended project and a minimum of 10 days work experience. Also included are functional skills in English, mathematics and ICT which will be studied at level 2 if you have not achieved them at school. * Additional/specialist learning – This component gives the opportunity to study a particular topic in more depth or to broaden your studies through a qualification that complements your chosen Diploma subject. The Additional/Specialist allows you to tailor your learning to your own interests and aspirations. A variety of subjects will be available to you such as: CAD design, Engineering, Fashion and Textiles, Food Technology, IT, Maths and Science, Language Studies. The Additional/Specialist learning and Extended Project work for the Manufacturing and Product Design Diploma will take place in a variety of locations in conjunction with the partners for the delivery of the Manufacturing and Product Design Diploma.
From the Advanced Diploma worth 3.5 A levels you could go to universityas it attracts UCAS points. Alternatively you could seek an apprenticeship or employment. Universities and colleges were involved in creating Diplomas, so you will get the skills you need to succeed on a higher education course. The Diploma was developed with the help of employers to give you the skills, knowledge and experience you need to do well in the working world. As you get the chance to learn in different settings, including the workplace, you’ll develop skills that employers really value.
