Level 3 Specialist Diploma Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools at Sheaf Training

Course description

A nationally recognised and flexible award from the City and Guilds Awarding Organisation that will further develop candidates' existing skills and expertise relating to the educational setting in which they work. Assessment will be through a portfolio of knowledge evidence and observation.

Candidates must be either working or volunteering, (however they must have sufficient experience, roles and responsibilities), within an Educational setting (Primary, Secondary, Special Needs) environment, and have a keen interest in children and young people's care, learning and development. Candidates must have a caring nature, be reliable, committed, enthusiastic, motivated and be able to work independently, effectively and as part of a team.


Entry requirements

Level 2 Literacy or equivalent is desirable however we will accept applicants who are working towards this qualification.

Courses will be made accessible whilst studying your teaching assistant qualification.

Experience of working with children and young people is essential.

Level 2 Numeracy is also desirable but again courses will be made accessible.

If candidates have not achieved a GCSE in English, Maths or IT, they will be advised to complete these as Functional Skills at Level 2.

Future opportunities

This course can lead onto a Foundation Degree in Teaching and Learning.
