Countryside Management Level 3 (Game and Wildlife) (Conversion) Diploma at Northumberland College
The Game and Wildlife course is designed to give the student a wide range of practical skills and knowledge, enabling them to enter employment in fieldsports or wildlife management sector or progress into higher level courses in further education. The course is designed around local needs and local habitats, many of which are present on the Kirkley estate.
You will study exciting units including? You will study ecology and conservation, shoot management, estate skills, Pest and predetor control , specialist project study, woodland management, farm habitat management, machinery operations, work experience, urban habitat management, fresh water and wetland management, and principles of game management.
You will need to have four GCSEs at grade C or above, an Intermediate GNVQ, or a Level 2 Diploma. Mature students and applicants with a significant level of experience will also be considered.
Your progress will be assessed by a range of methods including practical assessments/ observations, written assignments, and identification tests.
After completing the course you could build on what you have already achieved by studying a further 6 unit. This would allow you to gain a 120 credit Diploma in Countryside management. Completing the course could also allow you to gain employment as a conservation worker, countryside ranger, warden, estate worker or wildlife warden.
