A Level Drama and Theatre Studies at Seaford Head School and 6th form centre

Course description

 

Students will enjoy a variety of stimulating activities designed to allow them to study the world of drama and theatre.

They will have opportunity to gain the knowledge to be a performer, a designer and an active audience member.

Studens will be expected to participate in live performances and to come to rehearsals outside if timetabled lesson.

Course content

Mixture of text work and devising work with options for performance or design.

Written exam on Theatre Makers

Entry requirements

Students require  5+ GCSE A*-C, additionally students must have English Language or English Literature in Grade 5 or above.

Assessment

Component 1: devising (40% of the qualification ) internally assessed and externally moderated

Component 2: text in Performance (20% of the qualification) externally assessed by a visiting examiner (group performance and monologue or dialogue /design realisation)

 

 

Financial information

Students will be expected to attend theatre trips termly organised by the department costing between £5 and £35

Future opportunities

The Performing Arts is varied diverse industry. Drama and Theatre Studies A-Level can be a good foundation to prepare you for employment in this field. However, it can be also good grounding for other carers such as Law, Education, Hospitality or any other field in which inter-personal skills are valued. This course will enable students to apply for academic study at university or practical drama at drama school.
