Psychology (A Level) AQA at The Robert Napier School

Course description

AS  Psychology follows the AQA  (A) syllabus.

The course is assessed by two exams. There is no coursework element.

 

Course content

AS – Paper one 1 - Introductory topics in Psychology (social influence, memory, attachment). 1.5 HR examination = 50% of AS grade

AS – Paper 2 - Psychology in context (approaches, psychopathology, research methods) 1.5 Hr examination = 50% of AS grade

Entry requirements

Grade C in Maths, English Language & Science.

Assessment

AS - Paper 1 - 1 1/2 hour examination - 50% of AS grade

AS - Paper 2 - 1 1/2 hour examination - 50% of AS grade

A2 level Psychology paper 1 - (Social influence, memory, attachment, psychopathology) 2Hr examination = 33.3% of A level grade

A2 level Paper 2 - (approaches, bio-psychology, research methods) 2HR examination = 33.3% of A level grade

A level paper 3 - (Issues and debates – relationships, schizophrenia, forensic psychology) 2Hr examination = 33.3% of A level grade

Future opportunities

An A level in Psychology could lead to careers in the following;

Teaching, Research, Medical, Clinical, Sport, Forensic, Counselling, Child Development, Occupational Health and Social Work.
