Hospitality & Catering Traineeship at HIT Training

Course description

At HIT, we prepare young people straight from school or college or unemployment for the world of work by providing the basic employability skills they will need. This could involve anything from food safety to customer service. It could also include help with Maths and English. We will then place you with participating employers for up to 12 weeks’ work experience.

At any time during the five months’ work experience, if there is a suitable vacancy and your work and attendance is satisfactory, you may be offered employment. Otherwise, you will return to HIT with new skills, work experience and a much valued reference for your CV, and HIT will attempt to place you in another job in this sector.

At the end of the traineeship your employer will offer a job interview or an exit interview and either way you will benefit. If a trainee has become an important part of the team then a firm offer of employment and an apprenticeship is often the outcome.

Another benefit of a traineeship is the chance for both the employer and trainee to sample each other before making a formal contract to embark on an apprenticeship and work together, a form of ‘try before you buy’.

If you think traineeships are for you, you must be available to spend a maximum of five months in a work placement with training provided and additional tuition in English and Maths if you have not already achieved a minimum of GCSE Grade C in those subjects.
