Physical Education A Level at Matravers School

Course description

Level PE allows you to perform and study a wide variety of activities as well as combining knowledge of sports through a scientific, historical and psychological point of view which builds on the skills learnt during GCSE and BTEC. Those students who have a scientific interest, particularly in the areas of anatomy and physiology and how it affects sporting performance, along with social and historical issues of a sporting nature, may find this an interesting and worthwhile post 16 choice. It also provides the opportunity to study how all these factors are inter-related affecting both elite and recreational performers.

Entry requirements

Students wishing to study A Level PE should have gained at least a B grade at GCSE, have a passion for sport and regularly participate for either for the school or club. Students should also use their passion for sport to assist with developing school sport in order extend their own knowledge as a performer, coach or official.

Future opportunities

Studying Sport and Physical Education at this level creates vocational opportunities in a number of areas. These include Sports Science, Physiotherapy, Sport and Leisure management, Teaching, Sports Development, Coaching, Sports Therapy and Sports Psychology.
