Course description

The course for you if ...

You want a career in the Public Services is your dream and you have additional aspirations to progress to university.

Course content

You will gain skills and expertise which will both equip and prepare you for a career in Public Services.

You will focus on areas of study such as self-defence, map reading, navigation, drill and discipline along with the organisation of competitive team sports.

Entry requirements

Minimum of 4 GCSEs at Grade D or above (with at least 1 at Grade C or above) including English Language and Maths; or a pass at BTEC Level 1 Certificate; or equivalent along with Cs or above in English Language and Maths. You can progress from a relevant Level 1 qualification. You will need a reasonable level of fitness and a successful
interview with members of the course team. You will also need to demonstrate excellent teamwork skills and a total focus on completing the programme.


You will produce a portfolio of work over the year consisting of work form unit workbooks and practical observation.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto the Level 3 course or take up a career in one of the Uniformed or Civilian Services.
