IT Introductory Diploma Level 1 at PETROC

Course description

IT skills are your passport to a wide range of career options. The Level 1 Diploma covers all aspects of computing and covers practical skills and knowledge of underlying technologies. This course can give you specialist work-relevant IT skills in many aspects of computing, including units on computer hardware, programming, website design and knowledge of underlying principles of the internet.

You will be taught mostly in computing rooms, equipped with modern networked PCs. Each student will have the use of their own PC. For the theory parts of the course, you may occasionally be taught in a standard classroom.

Course content

You will cover core units on: Being organised, developing a personal progression plan, working with others, researching a topic, developing digital information using IT, using digital communication technologies, creating a spreadsheet to solve problems, creating a website, developing a computer programme, solving technical IT problems.

Assessment

You will be assessed by two assignments per module.
