Construction - Brickwork Diploma Level 1 at North Kent College

Course description

The level 1 Diploma in Brickwork is designed to give the learners the basic knowledge and hand skills in brickwork to enable them to get a start in the construction industry.

Course content

The course is a mixture of practical and theory, with the majority of the time spent in the workshop developing the hand skills needed to build cavity walls, solid walls, blockwork and the ability to transfer levels. In the class the learners will know how to work safely in construction, relay information, calculate quantities, communicate with others and knowledge of construction technology. The learners will also undertake two functional skills in English and Maths at a level to suit and stretch their abilities. The learners will be taught by highly qualified tutors with years of trade experience in well equipped workshops.

Entry requirements

Minimum GCSE grade D in Mathematics and English, supported by two grade Es, one preferably in science

Assessment

Portfolio, end of unit tests, online exam covering all topics and 3 practical synoptic assessment tests
