Engineering (Fabrication and Welding) Apprenticeship at East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire)

Course description

The Intermediate Apprenticeship is designed to equip you with the basic skills and knowledge required to safely use hand and machine tools to produce components from sheet metal including fabrication and welding. You will develop skills in sheet metal work, plate working, thermal cutting and welding machine operation. At Advanced level, you will develop practical skills and knowledge required when using welding processes such as MIG, TIG and MMA or when developing fabrication practices.

Entry requirements

All potential Apprentices will benefit from average to good GCSE grades, D, C, B & A. Support is given to all future apprentices who have not got the required grades of maths and English for the framework. The functional skills delivery is both group delivery and one to one depending on the level of support required. The technical elements of this qualification will require the apprentice to have a good educational background with good grades in GSCE.
