Course description

This IMIAL Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to improve your chance of finding a job in the light vehicle automotive industry. It can also help to fast-track students into an Intermediate Apprenticeship. GCSE retakes, Level 2 Functional Skills and workshop sessions are an essential part of this course.

Course content

The IMIAL Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma is delivered through a number of units covering:

  • Automotive health and safety
  • Automotive tools and materials
  • Light vehicle component replacement
  • Light vehicle engines systems
  • Light vehicle chassis systems
  • Light vehicle maintenance
  • Light vehicle inspection
  • Light Vehicle basic hybrid technology

Entry requirements

Entry for the IMIAL Level 2 Subsidiary Diploma is through an interview where you demonstrate a keen interest in working in the Automotive Industry. You should have a minimum of four good GCSEs at Grade D or above in Mathematics, English and Science based subjects.  Academic qualifications such as a level 1 qualification in Automotive Studies or vocational experience such as work experience may also be considered.

Assessment

Assessment of each unit is made up of three components – IMI Practical Assessments, Centre Devised Assessment Methods and IMI External Testing.

Financial information

You will be required to have boots, overalls and Polo shirts which are ordered through our supplier. You will also have to pay £50 to cover faculty materials.

Future opportunities

This Subsidiary Diploma will help you find a job within the automotive industry. The Level 2 programme gives an excellent opportunity to progress onto an apprenticeship or to the Level 2 Extended Diploma.
