Music - GCSE at Bonus Pastor Catholic College
Music provides a wonderful chance for students individually and as a group to develop new talents and confidence through performing, regardless of ability. They build on life skills - to concentrate, to explore, to prepare and organise, and to collaborate. The study of music history enriches students’ understanding of different cultures and eras, and to see the roots of today’s popular music in context. The elements of this course include performing, composing, listening and composing. The composing element is developed through the course, using ICT resources and music technology, and with individual assistance from the teacher. Students who do well in this course often progress to Music Technology at A level.
With further training, you could go into a job related to music and the performing arts such as a Teacher or Musician or you may wish to pursue a career in the production of music or you could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer. You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in Music or Performing Arts or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification.
