Applied Science BTEC Level 2 First Diploma at Chelmsford College

Course description

This is a vocational course leading to a qualification in applied science.

Course content

This course allows learners to discover how science works, how scientific skills can be applied in the laboratory, in medicine and to investigations in forensic science. It includes three mandatory core subjects in which learners study biology, chemistry and physics. Further units include investigating how science works in medicine, the human body, chemical analysis and detection, investigation of crime scenes and a short practical project to develop investigative skills in the laboratory.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 2 GCSEs grade D or above, or successful achievement on a relevant Level 1 vocational course.

 

Specific Entry Requirements:

GCSE Science at grade D or above or Level 1 Science qualification.

Assessment

Internally assessed coursework.

Future opportunities

You may progress to BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science on either the Forensic Science or Medical Science pathway, employment or apprenticeship.

      The campus also houses a Learning Centre, Skills Development Centre, Assessment Centre, Tutorial Centre, a Copyshop and Refectory. Situated on the grounds of this campus are Dovedale Nursery and Dovedale Sports Centre.
