Sociology AS/A2 Level at Belfairs Academy

Course description

The study of Sociology must focus on contemporary society and foster the development of critical and reflective thinking with a respect for social diversity. Students will be encouraged to develop their own sociological awareness through active engagement with the contemporary social world.

This is an essay based subject and works well with other humanities subjects, or as a contrasting subject for students studying arts, science or maths.

English grade C.

Assessment

The course is assessed through formal examinations.

Future opportunities

This course is a good foundation for further study of Sociology and related subjects at university. Students may pursue careers in the social sciences but it is highly regarded by employers in a wide number of career paths.
