BTEC Construction Certificate Level 2 at Ryburn Valley High School
This will enable students (boys and girls) at Key Stage 4 who have an interest and would like a career in construction to receive high level teaching in order to learn a variety of construction skills like brickwork and joinery. For those interested in the course there are some difficult decisions for you to make, as students will be out of school for two days a week and will miss some GCSE lessons. Although the academy offers you the chance to gain the equivalent of eight GCSE’s, students will have to make a special effort to keep up with work in other subjects at school.
This course offers you a specialist qualification for working in areas of construction service. It could lead onto other vocational qualifications such as a BTEC National Certificate or Diploma in Construction or an NVQ or Apprenticeship programmes in Construction Site Supervision, Plastering or Surveying.With further training, you could go into a job related to construction such as a Construction Labourer, Site Manager or Building Surveyor.The course also provides you with the basic knowledge, understanding and skills that many employers in the construction industry are looking for.
