Performing Arts BTEC National at Bedford Academy

Course description

The role of the performer in the 21st Century is very demanding and the training and skills required to meet the needs of this challenging industry needs to be learned to an outstanding standard. Supporting performers are teams of directiors, stage managers, costume, lighting and set designers who make every stage, film and television production possible. We are passionate about training young people to be professional and well equipped to cope in the world of performing arts. You rtime with us will be filled with opportunities to develop not only your performance and producition skills but also your confidence and social resilience.

Course content

BTEC National Level 3 Performing Arts gives you the chance to learn through high energy practical lessons. This course can be studied across a variety of areas including perofrmance and performance design. You will work well with other, as well as independently, to build you skills as a performer or designer. An example of some of the units tahte are available to sudy are below, but this will depend on the students taking the course and their interests: the principles of acting, performing for an audience, costume and set design, theater for children and lighting design.

Assessment

Level 3 BTEC courses are assessde on coursework assignments that are internally marked and externally moderated. There are no exams.

Future opportunities

This course prepares you for employment within the Performing Arts sector. It is also develops skills and qualities highly valued in areas such as public speaking, teaching, consultancy, films and television, journalism and music based careers.
