Health and Social Care at Calder High School

Course description

The 30-credit BTEC Level 3 Certificate offers a specialist qualification that focuses on particular aspects of employment within the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Certificate is a qualification which can extend a learner’s programme of study and give vocational emphasis. The BTEC Level 3 certificate is broadly equivalent to one GCE AS Level.

The 60 credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus on the BTEC Level 3 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Certificate – 30 Credits

Mandatory unit:

Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care

Plus

Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care

And at least 1 other unit of work

Edexcel BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma – 60 Credits

Mandatory units include:

Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care

Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care

Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care

Plus

At least 3 other units of work
