Business Studies A Level at Stanley Park High School
This course will help you develop an understanding of business organisations and the market they operate in. You will examine the internal workings and the management of organisations in particular the process of decision making in a dynamic external environment. The topics lend themselves to studying and engaging with the business world. You are encouraged to follow business developments and think critically about contemporary business issues. Most of the assessment material is based on real business situations.

5 GCSE’s A* - C including Mathematics and English.
Desirable but not essential to have studied GCSE Business Studies.
The assessment of the A level takes place at the end of year 2 in the form of three 2 hour written examination papers.
- Paper 1 - Section A has 15 multiple choice questions, section B has short answer questions, and sections C and D have two essay questions.
- Paper 2 - Three data response compulsory questions.
- Paper3 - One compulsory case study followed by approximately six questions.
Business Studies opens up a wide range of opportunities from employment to higher education. Students will be able to show potential employers an in depth understand of business knowledge, which would enable you to move on to a management trainee programme. University degrees allow you to specialise in a particular area which you have enjoyed during your course, for example marketing or human resources.
